If you’ve attended a session, read something that resonated, or found a tool on this site that changed how your team trains — and you’re wondering what it might look like to bring that thinking directly to your organization — this is the right place to start.
I work with fire departments, industrial emergency response teams, and fire service organizations on the things that sit between good intentions and real performance: training program design, leadership development, and the hard questions around how we measure whether any of it actually works.
Speaking and Conference Presentations
I present at regional, national, and international fire service conferences on leadership, training design, industrial firefighting, and the evolving role of technology in the fire service.
Recent and upcoming engagements include FDIC International, the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association Conference, and Smoky Mountain Weekend.
Topics I speak on include:
- Leadership accountability and building trust without micromanagement
- Command presence — speaking, teaching, and leading with impact
- Measuring and improving agency and firefighter performance
- AI in the fire service — what it means, what it doesn’t, and what to do about it
- Training program design and performance-based evaluation
If you’re booking for a conference, state association event, or department training day, I’d encourage you to reach out early. My calendar fills several months out.
Consulting and Advisory Work
My consulting work falls into three areas:
Training Program Design and Assessment
I help departments and industrial fire brigades evaluate what they have, identify gaps, and build programs that hold up under scrutiny. This includes curriculum development, evaluation frameworks, and instructor development.
Industrial Fire Service
I work with industrial clients on emergency response team structure, training compliance, and performance measurement. This includes benchmarking against peer organizations, program audits, and documentation systems that support both operations and regulatory requirements.
Leadership Development
I work with fire service organizations on building leadership pipelines — not just promoting people because it’s their turn, but developing officers who can think, decide, and lead under pressure. This includes one-on-one advisory work with emerging leaders and facilitated sessions for officer development programs.
What Working Together Looks Like
Every engagement starts with a conversation. I’m not selling a packaged program — I’m looking for organizations that have a real problem they’re ready to work on. If that’s you, I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit and what I think it would take to get where you’re trying to go.
Engagements range from a single assessment or workshop day to longer advisory relationships. I work with both public fire departments and private industrial clients.
